DAY 1

Colombo : Capitale Sri Lanka

ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT – COLOMBO

DAY 2

CHILAW – YAPAHUWA – HATHTHIKUCHCHA – ANURADHAPURA

 

CHILAW

Breakfast at the hotel

  • On the way to Chilaw : on the coastal road to Cilaw, you will pass several small fishing villages
  • Visit the city of Chilaw once arrived

YAPAHUWA

  • On the way to Yapahuwa
  • Once in Yapahuwa : visit of the hinduist temple of Munneswaram, then visit of the buddhist temple of Panduwasnuwara and finally you will go Haththikuchcha

HATHTHIKUCHCHA

  • Visit an ancient Buddhist monastery as well as ruins and in the afternoon you will reach Anuradhapura and go to the hotel.

Dinner and night at the 3-star Palm Garden Hotel (or similar).

DAY 3

ANURADHAPURA – SIGIRIYA

 

ANURADHAPURA

  • Visit the city of Anuradhapura, former capital of the Sinhalese kingdom. You will see the oldest tree in the world and discover the archaeological park – a World heritage Site – then you will head to Sigiriya.

SIGIRIYA

  • Archaeological site | Former royal capital of Sri Lanka
  • A stop planned in order to admire the statue of Buddha in Aukana.
  • The Lion Rock of Sigiriya : impressive site, classified as a World Heritage site by the UNESCO
  • Visit of a batik workshop

Dinner and night at the 3-star Giritale Hotel (or similar).

DAY 4

POLONNARUWA – MINNERIYA

 

Breakfast at the hotel

  • Morning : you will head to Polonnaruwa
  • Visit of the archaeological site as  well as the lesser-known site of Medirigiriya
  • Discover the statue of King Parakramabahu, the former Royal Palace, the audience hall, the royal baths, the relic room and the temple dedicated to Shiva
  • Afternoon : safari on a jeep in Minneriya National Park to watch wild elephants

Dinner and night at the 3-star Giritale Hotel (or similar).

DAY 5

DAMBULLA – KANDY

 

  • On the way to Kandy, several stops are planned to meet the locals
  • Dambulla : visit the Buddhist temple and the garden of spices
  • Arrival in Kandy : you will have time to get settled at your hotel
  • Later afternoon : you will attend the evening ceremony at the renowned Temple of the Tooth

Dinner and night at the 3.5-star Thilanka Hotel in a Deluxe room (or similar).

DAY 6

PINNAWALA – KANDY

 

  • In the morning : you will visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala
  • Visit of the Peradeniya Royal Botanical garden located near, you will discover numerous  exotic flowers
  • Afternoon : Explore the streets of Kandy
  • Evening : Attend the traditional dance performances and the impressive fire walking demonstration.

Dinner and night at the 3.5-star Thilanka Hotel (or similar).

DAY 7

NUWARA ELIYA

 

  • You will head to Nuwara Eliya and pass incredible tea plantations
  • Several stops are planned in order to meet the locals and observe the tea pickers as they work in the fields
  • Visit of a tea factory and taste the tea at the end
  • Afternoon: Stroll around Nuwara Eliya and the park, if wanted do some shopping…

Dinner and night at the 3-star Stamford Star Hotel (or similar).

DAY 8

NUWARA ELIYA – BANDARAWELA

 

  • In the morning : leave for Bandarawela
  • Stop at the botanical garden of Nuwara Eliya
  • Stop at Duhinda falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Sri Lanka
  • Afternoon : discover the town of Bandarawwela

Dinner and night at the 3-star Bandarawela Hotel (or similar).

DAY 9

KATARAGAMA – YALA

 

  • On the way to Kataragama
  • Stop to admire the tallest statue of Buddha in Buduruwagala
  • Visit the ruins of Yudaganawa
  • Safari time in Yala National park

Dinner and night at the 3-star Hotel Chandrika (or similar).

DAY 10

KATARAGAMA – GALLE

 

  • In the morning : visit the pilgrimage town of Kataragama and its famous monuments.
  • You will head to Galle
  • Afternoon : amble around the streets of Galle and explore its fascinating heritage

Dinner and night at the 3-star Old Dutch House (or similar).

DAY 11 – 12

BENTOTA

 

  • On the way to Bentota
  • Afternoon : free time to enjoy the beach
  • The next day will also be a free day and many optional excursions will be offered

Dinners and nights at the 4-star The Palms (or similar).

DAY 13

BENTOTA – AIRPORT

 

  • Departure from the hotel and transfer to Colombo International Airport.
